What to take for migraines well pregnant?
29.November, 2008
This is my first pregnancy. I get migraines and headaches all the time.. I've gotten use to the headaches, and can stand them. but migraines are horrible. The only thing that ever helped for my migraines were the generic Tylenol 1's (which has small amount of codeine) which i dont want to take them during pregnancy. but nothing else helps for my migraines, reg. tylenol or reg advil don't help. Does anyone have any suggestions on what would help for migraines that be safe?
I have migraines so badly that I pass out and vomit. My doctor gave me Fioricet to kill the migraines. It's not used for daily headaches though. I would talk to your ob at your next visit and see how he feels.
Lots of luck sweetheart!

What causes recurring migraines?
28.November, 2008
I find myself suffering from migraines at least twice a week at different times in the day. I drink lots of water, so I know I am not dehydrted. What could be causing these persistent migraines? Any remedies?
There are so many causes for migraines and you need an evaluation to determine what might be aggrivating yours.
Sound, light, smells, certain foods and so much more.
Mine were due to chronic sinus. Some of the new over the counter products are excellent, but to be safe seek a doctor for help.
Migraine sufferers: Anyone get rid of them completely or significantly reduce the reoccurence of migraines?
26.November, 2008
If so, please share how. I have been suffering from Migraines for 10 years. I take Relpax and it helps, but the side effects are scary–makes me very drowsey, light headed, and winded.
I get them once a month (and sometimes more) I have tried to find the triggers, but just cant get rid of them. I am already on the pill also. This is supposed to help, but either way– on it, or off it , I get migraines.
Yes, pl see what suits you.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.
There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.
Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.
For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.
It may disappear naturally too.

Is there a birth control pill that will actually help my migraines?
24.November, 2008
I have polycystic ovary syndrome and the best solution to elevate my hormonal levels is to be on the birth control pill. However, I seem to suffer more headaches and migraines while on the pill. I have so far tried Yasmin and LoEsterin and they have made the migraines worse. Is there a birth control pill out there that will help the migraines or at least keep them at bay?
I'm sort of the opposite. I went on the pill to knock out my migraines. Currently I'm on Tri-Sprintec, the generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.
Different pills have different horomone levels and there are also combination pills versus progestin only pill. I don't know much about your condition, and if changes in horomone level or type of horomone will affect it, but talk to your gyn about the migraines. It may be as simple as changing your pill dosage.
How can my sister get rid of her migraines?
22.November, 2008
My sister is 23 and gets horrible migraines about 1-2 per wk. She's lost 2 jobs already because of it and she's afraid she'll get fired again from her current position. Her doctor keeps giving her meds but they don't cure the problem. She has an anxiety disorder and she started getting migraines after her heart surgery last Feb. Any advice?

Why do some people get migraines and others do not?
20.November, 2008
My wife gets migraines almost every day. Frequently to the point of having to go into a dark room for the entire day. What is the cause?
Sometimes you get a migraine because of hormonal changes in your body, like if your wife was starting or is having her period. Women going through menopause will often experience migraines. And sometimes it's just good 'ole genetics. In my family migraines were supposed to skip my generation, but I'll get them.
There's are medications that you can take at the first sign of a migraine, most of these aren't pills, but nasal sprays. My mother can't take these because she's allergic to one of the ingredients, so if your wife wants to get a prescription for one of these medications makes sure she's not allergic to anything in them.
I don't get migraines frequently enough to be put on a medication. My best way to get over a migraine is to take the new Ultra Tylenol and go into the darkest room in the house. The last time I got a migraine that worked in 3 hours instead of the normal 6, which was excellent.
Should I start taking prescribed medicine for my migraines?
18.November, 2008
I've been getting migraines for the past 2 or 3 years due to stress. I usually get them first thing in the morning, maybe one day a month. On these days I have a hard time getting up and going to work. It feels like a ring around my head that someone is pressing down on. Sometimes it goes up to the top of my head too. Daylight will bother me. Every once in a while I'll throw up. Although, compared to other people's stories, my migranes seem mild. My internal medicine doctor recommended Excedrine for migraines which works well. But sometimes it feels like my migraine doesn't fully go away and lingers there all day long. Should I be taking something stronger? Should I just ask my internal medicine doctor for a prescription? What would you recommend to take?
I fine Advil works for me. Also, a long warm shower or if you can handle it, go for a swim. My Dr told me years ago that swimming helps relieve migraines and I find that it helps.
What is a good introduction for a speech about migraines?
16.November, 2008
This is a serious question. I need help with forming an introduction for my speech about migraines. If any of you can actually post examples, that would be nice. Any help is greatly appreciated.
It has to be an attention getter.
List some facts about migraines or give statistics about how many people get migraines each day in America. Any interesting fact could be used for an introduction.
What is a natural way to relieve frequent migraines?
14.November, 2008
I get migraines often and I am allergic to most pain medication. Is there any herbs (besides White Willow Bark) or any massage techniques, relaxation ideas, etc. that can relieve the pain? I really appreciate the help. ![]()
Apple cider vinegar (diluted with plenty of water) every day is supposed to help.
